New MORBID ANGEL Drummer Is 'More Than Ready' To Fill PETE SANDOVAL's Shoes

March 7, 2011

On March 5, Aniruddh "Andrew" Bansal of Metal Assault conducted an interview with MORBID ANGEL drummer Tim Yeung (DIVINE HERESY, ALL THAT REMAINS, NILE, HATE ETERNAL, VITAL REMAINS) at the Scion Rock Fest in Pomona, California. You can now listen to the chat using the audio player below.

MORBID ANGEL entered Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida in June 2010 with engineer Erik Rutan (former MORBID ANGEL guitarist and producer for such bands as CANNIBAL CORPSE and GOATWHORE) to begin recording the band's ninth full-length album. Due via Season Of Mist, the new CD will be the band's first to be recorded without longtime drummer Pedro "Pete" Sandoval, who last year underwent back surgery for a deteriorating disc problem.

Regarding the new MORBID ANGEL album, Yeung says, "It's finished. It's completely done. It's being mastered right now and we're looking for an early June release. It's great, I'm really excited about it.' He adds, "I will be touring with [MORBID ANGEL] the next year for this whole album cycle, definitely."

On the topic of replacing Sandoval in MORBID ANGEL's touring lineup, Yeung says, "Pete's a big inspiration to us all and he's a very, very special player. I knew that the shoes were big to fill, but I'm more than ready for this."
